About Gorillas

Gorillas are amongst the most endangered primates in the world. Less than 1000 mountain gorillas remain in the wild. Living high in mountain forests, they have thick fur that helps them survive in a habitat where temperatures can drop below freezing. However, due to poaching, deforestation, civil conflict  and human encroachment into their territories, the Gorillas are forced ever higher and into areas where conditions can become deadly.

Meanwhile, bush meat hunting, timber harvesting and habitat destruction are also negatively affecting the probability of the survival of western lowland gorillas, which are now considered to be critically endangered.

Salvari partners with One Tree Planted to help plant trees within depleted forests and rainforests throughout the world. To find out more about the incredible work they do read our blog here.
